Hello! I’m Abbey Michelle Tackett and I’m a transgender woman. I use she/her pronouns. I’ve been active on Twitter and Instagram and the publishers of this site saw my posts and asked if I would like to start a blog diary. It seemed like an excellent chance to let others know what I went through, so that they know they are not alone, there are other people who have experienced the same pain that they have. I hope I get something out of it too, so far it allows me to really think about my past. I would like to share my journey of coming out and transitioning.
A little more about me: I’m 52 years old. I have two biological children and two stepchildren. I’ve been married twice, the first ended because of my sexuality and I’m now separated from my second wife because she isn’t a lesbian. I work as a software developer for an international company. I’m out to everyone in my life except some more remote friends and work.
Currently, my transition plans are to continue on HRT, which I started January 1, 2020. Hopefully I can up my dosages in February. I’m starting to see some changes and I’m very excited! I have speech therapy next week, and I’m going to a specialty wig shop next weekend to be fitted for a pair of wigs (I have a couple now that I purchased online, but it’s time to up the quality). I am looking at deals for laser hair removal in the local area.
I really want to come out at work, but some experienced people in the community suggested I take my time with that process, and I do think it would be good for me to work on other things in my transition for a while. I have talked to HR at my company and they have been supportive.
I would ultimately like to have FFS (facial feminization surgery) and breast augmentation, followed by GRS (gender reassignment surgery).
I’m going to start out with a couple posts talking about my life from when I realized I was a girl to when I finally came out. I really hope this helps someone know that the things they feel are not unique, and that it’s ok. You are valid! After that, I would like to talk about some of my experiences coming out and transitioning.
I am at @abbeycincy on both Twitter and Instagram (for now, a girl can change her mind). Feel free to follow and ask questions. I would love to hear if there are topics I can discuss that might help someone with becoming themselves.
Love! And you are valid!
